Black Menu fix, Fixes that annoying black menu update Options

First of all: CtOP, someone in the IRC channel posted this, I am just creating this topic.


To get that annoying Black Menu / Update 'bug' away you need to modify your Hosts file.

You can find it in:

1. For Windows NT and 2000: C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc
2. For Windows XP / VISTA: C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

The file name is "Hosts" without any extension. If you can't see it make sure you are showing hidden files and showing system files.

Make sure the file is not read-only flagged then open it with notepad.

File will look something like this, only in your native language:

127.0.0.1       localhost

After the last line, add this:
127.0.0.1 servserv.generals.ea.com

And you're all set. Multiplayer over hamachi still works, remove the added line when / if you need to update.

Disclaimer: The black menu are in some cases still there but the amount of time you have to wait is greatly decreased and you won't get kicked back out to main menu after each campaign mission, skirmish, etc.
